It is wrong to say that the Miss Arizona pageant is not doing its job correctly. For the most part, it can be argued that the pageant is very skilled in terms of training young ladies on how to properly wear a state costume and smile for the camera as well as in teaching the importance of making friends with other contestants. Yes, you are right with that. Most of the recognitions that Arizona received at Miss USA in the past were special awards. When you study Arizona’s track record in the Miss USA pageant closely, what comes most noticeable is the fact that Arizona (albeit not really consistent) did really, really well in the special awards department most especially in the Miss Congeniality, Miss Photogenic and Best State Costume categories.

The Miss Arizona pageant has produced one Miss Congeniality. Cara Jackson was able to persuade the Miss USA judges that she was the friendliest among all the ladies of the 1999 batch. Jineane Ford gave the Miss Photogenic award to Arizona in 1980 after having captivated the judges with the kind confidence and posture she showed in her pictures. Daria Sparling, Michelle Ducote and Maricarrole Verlinde gave Best State Costume awards to Arizona after they skillfully modeled the costumes that were given to them.

The Miss Arizona pageant may not be as good as its counterpart in California as well as in New York, but for the most part, it has its fair share of strengths too. Judging by all the awards that its alumni earned, there is still some truth behind Arizona being a force to reckon with when it comes to producing ladies that are worthy to be crowned the most beautiful in the country and can be the most alluring in the global perspective as well.
